Duisburg is a junction of the A2, A3, A40 and A57 motorways.
Travelling by train:
Duisburg is directly served by train from many cities in Germany and neighbouring European countries, e.g. Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Karlsruhe, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart as well as Amsterdam and Basel. You can find connections via the Deutsche Bahn website https://int.bahn.de/en, among others.
Travelling by plane:
The nearest international airport Düsseldorf (DUS) is only around 20 km from Duisburg and is served by several airlines from Germany and Europe.
A local express railway line and several regional trains run from Düsseldorf Airport long-distance railway station to Duisburg main station within approx. 10 minutes. From the airport terminal, you can transfer to the railway station by SkyTrain. Tickets can be purchased at multi-lingual ticket machines at the station.
Travelling from overseas:
Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is recommended for those travelling from the USA and Canada. From the long-distance railway station there, you can reach Duisburg main station within 90 minutes with direct high-speed train (ICE) connections.
